Our next stop was the LCBO in Brockville. We then popped in at the local Swiss Chalet for a liesurely lunch. We stopped for the night at 1000 Islands / Mallorytown KOA Holiday. We were originally planning to go on to Brighton but the KOA there had delayed opening due to the cold, wet spring.
Day 2 - Thursday, April 16, 2026 - On to Niagara FallsWe got on the road about 09:15 after grilling a couple of bagels. We made a stop for gas at the Canadian Tire in Gananoque so we had enough to get to Niagara.
We set up camp and took the dogs for a good walk. There was lots of water around the camp generally.
Day 3 - Friday, April 17, 2026 - Hanging Around Camp
Today we spent the day around camp walking dogs and generally relaxing. for dinner we had noticed that the former home of the iconic "Oh Canada, Eh?" Dinner Musical Theater was now Kochi Japanese BBQ & Beer. Since it was right next door to the KOA, we decided to give a try. I have lost my notes on what we had but we remember that we will be coming back.
Day 4 - Saturday, April 18, 2026 - Concert DayAbout 16:30 was called for a cab at the office and headed for Fallsview Casino Resort where the concert was being held. Lillian made her contributions to the casino while Rod found a drink. We then had a bite of dinner at one of the pubs. I think it was Lucky's Restaurant & Bar. We found our way to Avalon Theatre for the concert. The opening act was pleasant but not exciting. The Dirt Band was great as usual. Even though Ibby and The String Wizard were no longer with them, Jeff Hanna, Jimmy Farron and Bob Carpenter are still there with Jeff's son Jaime, Ross Holmes, and Jim Photoglo completing the current version. We're going to miss that band! Mind you, with 17 albums in our music mix we still hear them. We got a cab back to the KOA arriving just after 23:00. The dogs were glad to see us.
Day 5 - Sunday, April 19, 2026 - Homeward BoundWe left camp about 09:20, gassed up and hit the QEW. Being a Sunday, traffic was not too bad was we crossed Toronto. We tanked up again in Gananoque. We made a stop at ob McIntosh Unique Shopping Experience at Lancaster, ON for Lillian to shop around. She got at least one "deal". We arrived back home around 17:15.
